When you dry fly fish for over 50 years, you have the unique opportunity to fish a lot of hopper patterns; and at one time or another, I've used most of them. The most productive hopper pattern by far that I have ever fished is our Bullethead Hopper. Maybe it's the orange pheasant feather under the quill wing or the elk butt body, or the mule deer head and collar that drives fish to the hook. But one thing for sure--this pattern is a fish-catching machine! Tied in 3 sizes to meet the size requirement for all elevations.
