Mayflies

To dry fly fish successfully, you “MUST” own the finest, most perfect, most realistic, most precise mayflies. DFI delivers the package BIG TIME!! This collection of mayflies has been crafted over 40 years of research and development (my term for fishing). We believe that fish target on a mayfly by the bug’s abdomen and the wing, and a subtle difference in either is the determining factor in a take.

The abdomens of our mayflies in sizes 20 and above are constructed of cemented biot or peeled peacock hurl for that essential striated look. The single-upright wings are hand carved to the exact shape of the natural using mallard quill and clear wing, and the result is a razor-thin front look and a big, fat, shapely side view.

In most mayflies, you can order in two wing colors: clear wing and quill wing. Mayflies in sizes under 20 are all thread body to maintain sparse, slender bodies. The most productive dry fly purchase of your life could be owning all of the DFI mayflies.

Searcher Patterns

The new world of dry fly fishing challenges the belief that you need a hatch. Fish this bug with NO hatch in holding water, and you'll be shocked to see what's calling. The fish will suddenly appear and eat this pattern. DFI has designed the new generation of of "searcher" flies built to sustain at least two hatches; in this case, a mayfly and a caddis, and get fish to take on their preference.
