Build This Fly

Is it like “all cool” to tie flies? There’s just something magical about dressing up a hook for the big event and then your fly steals the show by delivering a knock-out performance; and you look down at that giant fish and all that’s left to say is “WOW…I MADE THAT FLY!!!”

Build This Fly: Black Gold

This is an awesome early season fly tied in sizes 12, 10, and 8 2XL. The olive brown body, grizzle hackle, and black wing and tail is an irresistible color combination. In early fall, tie this fly in sizes 18, 16, and 14 for an absolute "must" to have in your fly box.

Build This Fly: Black Gold Humpilator

This fly is the new standard for attractor patterns. It can be fished from early spring through late fall and can be tied in a multitude of colors. It's fun to tie and deadly on the river. It's All Good!!!

Build This Fly: CDC Caddis

This unique pattern combines a CDC underwing and a teal or duck flank overwing. It floats beautifully, is extremely life-like, and catches fish like crazy. Tie it in sizes 20, 18, 16, and 14, and colors such as dark olive, gray or brown. (Shown in gray below).

Super producer in early winter conditions. It features a clear single, upright wing, black thread body, split tail, and dark dun hackle. Tie it in sizes 24, 22, and 20 for a "Must Own" fly for the late fall and early winter.

Build This Fly: Halloween

Tie this in sizes 12, 10, and 8 2XL as the early sason stonefly hatch come off, and you'll be amazed at the giant fish you bring to the surface! The orange underwing and thorax glimmer seduces some of the largest fish to your hook. This pattern is used mid-summer as an attractor pattern. It is very successful tied in smaller sizes, too!

A gorgeous double, high wing, biot body and a dubbed abdomen makes this fly one of the most effective large mayfly patterns. We tie it in brown and gray, and it has an awesome profile in the water.

Build This Fly: Mountain Emerger

Extremely effective in high country fishing for all trout species, especially cutthrout. Tied in sizes 20, 18, and 16, and in colors gray, olive, dark olive, black, or brown, this fly almost never fails to perform on mountain lakes and streams.

The ONE most devastating fly for brown trout in early spring. Fish it tight to the bank along willowed edges or cutbanks. Tie in sizes 12, 10 and 8. This fly is a mirror image of the adult stone fly with egg sack, tentacles, and black, orange and brown overtones.
